GLOBAL YOUTH ACTION AGAINST HIV/AIDS IN GHANA

HIV/AIDS epidemic has been on serious attack on the Ghanaian economy , and if not controlled , will negatively effect the entire economy of Ghana.

The young people are at the centre of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Youth are particulary succceptible to HIV infection and they also carry the burden of caring for family members living with HIV/AIDS.

In Ghana AIDS is shattering young peoples opportunities forhealth adult lives Youth are the future of Ghana, if they are not addressed, they have the real potential to jeopardize that future. There is urgent need to recognize that respond to the concerns of one -half of the Ghana population.

International volunteeers are invited to bring ideas and their way of campaign to help to fight against HIV /AIDS in Ghana. The focus wiil be on the typical areas in Ghana who are unware of the epidemic and this means movement from, one region to other region. The organization intent to campaign and educate youth on the cause of HIV /AIDS, it reality how to control or prevent the disease and awareness creation in general.

The programme will be be held monthly throughout the year 2003, thus from 1st June, 2003 up to the end of the year.

The volunteers will stay with host families, the fee $100 per month. These fees covers one meals (break fast), accommodation, preparatory materials and mannuals, administrative expenses, an experienced team leader and materials for the voluntary works projects, etc.

Discounts are available for you under the following condition:

Three months 5%, Six months 10%, Nine month 20%, One year 30%.

The Youth Cultural Festival

The Youth Cultural Festval has been organized by the Youth World Travel Organisation(YWTO) an international NGO based in Ghana. The two-week cultural festival also has in its pack, a whole lot of interesting activities. Participants will also have the opportunity to tour places of interest in Ghana.

The first week will cover the cultural festivities especially the Ashanti and Traditions of the Ashanti Kingdom where the group will be briefed about the history of the Ashanti Kingdom which is recognized world wide. Drama and other activities will also be displayed.

The second week will cover tour trips throughout Ghana especially tourist attractions in Ghana such as the Bofi Falls, Kakum National park, Elimina Castle etc. Participants may choose to stay with host families to gain more indepth information about Ghanaian cultures.

Over 500 participants from outside Ghana are expected to attend this all important festival to enjoy the popularly talked-about peaceful environment in Ghana.

International groups willing to showcase their culture will be allowed to do so along side that of Ghana, the host country.There will be combination of cultures from different backgrounds.
